Abstract:

In an English country manor, two unlikely souls, divided by time, will be united by tragedy, memory, and love. In 1819, Stephen Fairhurst, a veteran of Waterloo, returned to Kersey Hall hoping to find tranquility and enjoy his friendship with Lucy Durward. In 1976, Anna Ware, sent to Kersey Hall, now a rural school, is bored and lonely.
