Maximilianus, Transylvanus. |
| OCLC Number: | 11392888 |
| Notes: | Imprint from colophon. Title within border. Reprint of the 2d ed. (Rome, Nov. 1523) of Maximilian's account of Magellan's celebrated voyage. The Roman edition of Nov., 1523 has sometimes been called the first, that published at Cologne in Jan. 1523 being considered the second. But that the Cologne edition was the earlier is shown by the fact that at Cologne the new year began on Dec. 25, and not in March, as supposed by those who have given first place to the Roman edition. cf. Schoner, ... Reproduction of his globe of 1523, 1888, p. xxii, 153; and Grotefend, Zeitrechnung des deutschen mittelalters, 1891-98, v. 1, p. 88, 23, 205. Sabin 47040. Church 56. |
