The second edition of Maximilian's account of Magellan's celebrated voyage. Text differs slightly (especially at beginning and end)--from that of the first edition ("De Molvccis insulis", Cologne, Jan. 1523) The date ("Vallifoleti die xxiiii octobris M.D. XXII") which occurs at the end of the text in that edition im omitted here.
Some bibliographers have considered this the first edition, and that published at Cologne as the second, on the supposition that the beginning of the year came in March. But as in Cologne the new year began on Dec. 25, the edition published there in Jan. 1523 must have been the earlier. cf. Schöner ... Reproduction of his globe of 1523, 1888, p. xxii, 153; and Grotefend, Zeitrechnung des deutschen mittelalters, 1891-98, v. 1, p. 88, 23, 205.
