Episode 37 deals with the discovery of electromagnetic induction in 1831, which was an important technological breakthrough in the generation of electricity. Episode 38 describes how combining alternating current with transformers makes it practical to distribute ac over long distances. Uses computer animation sequences, historical reenactments, and close-up photography of experiments.
