Abstract:

Mr. Evanzz talks about his book "The Messenger: The Rise and Fall of Elijah Muhammad" by Pantheon Books. The book is biography of the former leader of the Nation of Islam, recounting his life in the poverty of South of the 1930's to his militancy of the 1960's. Mr. Evanzz described Elijah Muhammad's family history during slavery and his birth in 1897, as well as his influence on civil rights leaders such as Martin Luther King, Jr., Muhammad Ali, Jesse Jackson, and the Black Panthers. He also talked about Elijah Muhammad's relationship with Malcolm X.
