One of the most important magazine of its time which was devoted chiefly to the drama (and the only one which outlasted a single theatrical season) was Stephen Cullen Carpenter's monthly theatrical review, the Mirror of taste. The Mirror, which contained interesting and valuable criticisms of the stage and of theatrical life, was divided into four sections: "The Domestic Dramatic Censor" contained a journal of theater activities in Philadelphia and in most theaters in Great Britain; "Stage Biography" gave biographies of actors and actresses; and "Miscellany" contained book reviews, poetry, and plays.
