Mitchell and Kenyon. 764, Textile workers leaving a factory, c.1901

Author: Mitchell and Kenyon,
Publisher: London : British Film Institute, 1901.
Series: Silent film online
Edition/Format:   eVideo : Clipart/images/graphics : No Linguistic Content
Summary:
It's a shame that the location hasn't been identified, as there's more variety here than in many of Mitchell and Kenyon's 'factory gate' films. It was clearly a cold day: women are wrapped in thick shawls and many men sport scarfs. Two huge horse-drawn carts pass at one point, and the fascinated children who stop to scrutinise or mock the camera soon almost outnumber the adults.

Abstract:

It's a shame that the location hasn't been identified, as there's more variety here than in many of Mitchell and Kenyon's 'factory gate' films. It was clearly a cold day: women are wrapped in thick shawls and many men sport scarfs. Two huge horse-drawn carts pass at one point, and the fascinated children who stop to scrutinise or mock the camera soon almost outnumber the adults.
