Abstract:

"This 30-minute special spotlights the life of the widow of Dr. Martin Luther King, including the manner in which she is continuing the great works started by her late husband. Commenorating [sic] the anniversary of his death, the program also highlights familiar scenes of Dr. King. This warm and inspiring interview by Dewey Hughes was taped in Mrs. King's home."--1972 Peabody Digest. Mrs. King discusses her husband's work and legacy and her plans to develop the Center for Nonviolent Social Change as an ongoing memorial.

Mrs. King emphasizes her belief that, while violence may result in short-term changes, only nonviolence can create a climate in which lasting change can occur. She also discusses the role of the church in the civil rights movement, King's assassination, and Nixon's recent visit to China.
