This collection consists of 663 items arranged in sections by name of individual and type of document. Items include patents, 1749-1762, issued by the Virginia Land Office to Robert Ballowe and George Homes Gwinn for land in Albemarle County, and grants, 1789-1796, issued to Archibald Bolling for land in Amherst and Campbell counties, Virginia; slave deeds, 1821-1825, of Archibald Bolling; diaries, 1810-1839, and correspondence, 1813-1839, of Blair Bolling with Richard Adams and others; an account book, 1826-1855, about agricultural operations, lists of slaves and fruit trees; accounts, 1824-1837, and deeds concerning slaves, 1819-1838, of Blair Bolling with James B.
