Published in 10 parts by Gosselin in 1842-1843; originally serialized in 80 parts in the Journal des débats.
RBC copy 1: Binding: Marbled boards. Title page of ptie. 3 has "Troisième partie" effaced and roman "III" substituted.
RBC copy 2: Binding: Original pictorial gray boards; wood-engraved front cover illustration, a dark aerial view of Paris; 3 different vignettes on back covers (ptie. 2 and 3 are the same); spines in quadrillé motif, all bearing "1844" and "Édition illustrée". Four parts, each in a marbled chemise, housed in two matching slipcases; leather spines lettered in gilt. Bookplate on front pastedowns: "PAW" [Peter A. Wick]. Ms. notes of previous owner on front pastedown of ptie. 1. Items laid in by previous owner placed on file, including 4-page publisher's prospectus for the novel.
