The narratives of Knight and Slover (p. [3]-39) were first published in the Freeman's journal, Philadelphia, v. 3, nos. 106-109, Apr. 30-May 21, 1783, at the request of H.H. Brackenridge, by whom they were prepared for publication. They were issued in pamphlet form the same year at Philadelphia, under title: "Narratives of a late expedition against the Indians." The present reprint makes no mention of Brackenridge. Cf. Thomson, Bibl. of Ohio, 1880, no. 682; also, Hildeburn, A century of printing, 1885-86, no. 4262.
