Abstract:

Collection of sound and video recordings and a program flyer of a concert featuring Afro-Peruvian music and dance performed by the group Negrura Peruana, from Hartford, Connecticut. The group, consisting of seven musicians and four dancers, performs the music and dance of Peru's African and criollo population originally living in the coastal area around Chincha south of the captial and later transplanted to Lima, and then to Hartford, Connecticut in the 1980s and 1990s. Collection includes a VHS videotape of Negrura Peruana from the Institute for Community Research, Hartford, Connecticut. Introduction by Peggy Bulger.
