The Adolph Simon Ochs papers contain correspondence, letterpress books, scrapbooks, financial records, blueprints, maps, land surveys, photographs, honorary degrees and awards presented to Ochs, and other material related to his personal life and career as a newspaperman and publisher.

Every aspect of Ochs's life is reflected in the collection, from childhood photographs to testimonials sent to his family after his death. The main areas of focus in the collection are Och's ownership and direction of the Chattanooga Times, the New York Times, the Philadelphia Public Ledger, and the Philadelphia Times; his participation as a board member of the Associated Press; Ochs's business, real estate and civic interests in Chattanooga, Tennessee; philanthropic activities; and personal and family matters.
