"Aboard a transport plane, a close-up of what men in space ships and satellites are going to experience when blasted into orbit. The most exciting and dramatic films ever released of weightlessness at zero gravity. At the same time these pictures are released, in Washington the government identifies the seven men vying for the dangerous privilege of being the first American in space. All family men, they went through the most rigorous selection program yet devised. In 1961, the first 'Mercury Astronaut' may be blasted 150 miles above the earth, and returned after 24 hours"--Hearst synopsis sheet.
