Abstract:

Oliver Daniel and Donald J. Ott attended a recording session at the EMI Studios, Abbey Road, London on May 31, 1977, where Stokowski was recording Mendelssohn's Symphony No. 4 with the National Philharmonic Orchestra. Oliver and Ott recall details of this session; their conversations with Stokowski; their conversations with Natalie Bender about writing Stokowski's biography; mentioning the death of Goddard Lieberson.

Tape continues with a brief recording of bird calls, followed by Oliver Daniel's comments on a phone conversation he had with Yehudi Menuhin on June 1, where Menuhin suggested he would like to record Elgar's violin concerto with Stokowski; this is followed by Oliver Daniel's and Donald Ott's recollections of having tea with Stokowski, Natalie Bender, and Jack Baumgarten at 4 p.m. that day.
