Though Lescarbot's name is nowhere mentioned, this is a translation into English from his Histoire de La Nouvelle France, (1st ed. 1609,) by Pierre Erondelle, at the request of Richard Hakluyt. It covers only the part relating to the voyages and settlements of de Monts, Pontgravé and Poutrincourt, with the book on the Indians. (bks IV and VI of the later eds. of Histoire de la Nouvelle France).
