The main text is supported by 7 working papers, included as appendixes: The future of U.S. foreign trade; Costs and comparative costs for nuclear-powered and conventionally powered ships; The future price and availability of residual fuel oil; Trade route alternatives for nuclear propulsion applications; Health, safety, and environmental quality considerations; Prospects of unconventional propulsion for merchant marine applications; and Principal subsidies available to U.S.-flag ships engaged in foreign trade."--Page [127].
