Abstract:

Over the past five years, GE's Corporate Research and Development Center has developed several optimization-based software systems for the National Broadcasting Company (NBC). The goal of these systems is to use operations research and management science methodologies to maximize revenue, decrease operating costs and improve productivity. In this session, the team describes the systems they developed that are currently being used by more than 50 people at NBC, resulting in an over $50 million increase in net income annually.
