Abstract:

Interview conducted for Voices from the Catholic Worker. A Catholic Worker from West Germany, Heike Kirsten discusses working at Catholic Worker houses in America and her thoughts on the movement. Initially she shows slides of her time in the Davenport Catholic Worker community and of her involvement with Plowshares actions. She discusses differences she's observed in Catholic Worker houses across the United States, and she talks about European connections with the Worker. Afterwards, she talks about her interest in feminist theology and gender roles in the Catholic Church and in the Catholic Worker Movement. Finally she discusses abortion and reproductive rights. Interviewed by Rosalie Riegle Troester. Interruptions in audio present in original recording.
