Abstract:

Interview conducted for Voices from the Catholic Worker. Margaret Quigley Garvey and Mike Garvey discuss their experiences with Catholic Worker houses in Davenport, Iowa and South Bend, Ind. The Garveys talk about their feelings on civil disobedience, marriage and family in the Catholic Worker, meeting and the death of Dorothy Day, the lack of Catholic intellectuals, and liturgical issues. They describe the violence in the Davenport house, but also the hospitality successes. They share many stories and anecdotes throughout. Interview ends abruptly. Interviewed by Rosalie Riegle Troester. Interruptions in audio present in original recording. Order of transcript narrative varies from audio recording.
