Notes: Roy J. Ringer served Governor Edmund G. Brown, Sr., as his Los Angeles representative and speechwriter from 1961-1966. A liberal Democrat, Ringer was responsible for crafting much of the language of the Brown administration's program. Earlier, Ringer had been a journalist with various Los Angeles newspapers. In 1974 he became an editorial writer for the Los Angeles Times, where he remained until his retirement in 1984.
