They contain headquarters, general, brigade, regimental and artillery orders, from various locations in New York and New Jersey, as well as from locations near Yorktown, Va. Some include acts and resolutions of the Continental Congress. Other topics covered include Arnold's treason, and the discussion of the number of servants to be allowed to officers of the regular army. The weekly and monthly returns are kept by G. Hubbell, Lieutenant Joseph Ashton, Lieutenant James Giles, and James Bradford, who are also responsible for some of the orderly books, though others are anonymous.
