"Outside was published by David Pascoe at the Nawakum Press. The design and engravings are by Barry Moser. The typeface is Nofret, designed by Gudrun Zapf-von Hesse, released by the H. Berthold Type Foundry of Berlin, Germany, in 1984. The papers are Zerkall Book, a mould-made paper from the Zerkall Mills in Kall, Germany, and Gampi Torinoko, a legendary paper handmade in Echizen, Japan at the studio of Mr. Shuji Umeda. It was printed at Horton Tank Graphics in Hadley, Massachusetts, by Arthur Larson using a Vandercook Universal IV. The engravings were printed directly from the blocks on the Gampi Torinoko. The brush calligraphy is by Judythe Seick of Santa Fe, New Mexico. Pam Smith of Abiquiu, New Mexico, designed and made the marbled papers. The bindings and boxes were produced by Craig Jensen at BookLab II, in San Marcos, Texas"--Colophon.
"Six short stories of Barry Lopez, taken from his Notes trilogy, written over a span of almost twenty years from 1976-1994, are accompanied by 'meditation' engravings by Barry Moser reflecting multifaceted aspects of the text ... The engravings ... personal, illustrative 'meditations' on each story are followed by a four panel polyptychal image, which folds out, and takes on the collection of stories as a whole"--Publisher's website, viewed on March 2, 2015.
"Deluxe ... Fifteen copies are bound in a millimeter binding. The spine and fore edges are black Levant goatskin. The side panels are copper Asahi book cloth. On the spine, the title stamped in gold on a red leather onlay. The book and extra suite of all prints from the book are housed in a double-tray, drop-spine box. The front of the box features an accent of recessed Sycamore veneer and black leather. Identified by roman numerals, and signed on the colophon page by the author and artist"--Publisher's website, viewed on March 2, 2015.
