Abstract:

Papers of a feminist writer and lecturer active in a number of radical women's liberation groups, who changed her name from Pamela Allen to Chude Pamela Allen. The collection contains correspondence, writings, tape recordings of a 1971 Chico State College Teach-in, and subject files on a number of groups in which Allen participated. The correspondence includes discussion of the Jeannette Rankin Brigade, the Bridal Fair action of 1969 (and 3 related photographs), a Miss America Pageant demonstration, International Women's Day, and Sudsofloppen, a small feminist group in San Francisco. Writings include drafts of "Free Space: A Perspective on the Small Group in Women's Liberation" (1970); drafts of a book by her husband, Robert L. Allen, entitled "Reluctant Reformers: Racism and Social Reform Movements in the United States"; two videotape scripts; and several shorter works.

Also included are a typed copy of an interview with Simone de Beauvoir, an English translation of Margaret Randall's "Cuban Women Now," and miscellaneous poetry, songs, and collected publications.

The processed portion is summarized above and is described in the register. Additional accessions are described below and include papers from Allen's civil rights activities in Mississippi and her work with the Women's Alliance to Gain Equality (W.A.G.E.).
