Abstract:

This collection of papers contains correspondence, legal documents, poetry, extracts from newspapers, account books, and genealogical material concerning members of the Waldo Family. The papers of Albigence Waldo include correspondence, estate papers, and accounts and account books. The papers of Lucy Cargill Waldo include correspondence, poetry, and extracts from newspapers. The papers of Elisha Hurlbut Waldo contain letters to his father while he was apprenticed to Isaiah Thomas. There is also one letter from Thomas to Albigence Waldo concerning Elisha's apprenticeship.

The papers of Daniel Waldo include business correspondence, while the papers of Daniel Waldo, Jr. include business, family, and political correspondence.

The collection also includes papers of Waldo Lincoln (1849-1933), a genealogist. His papers contain correspondence, genealogical notes, and a typescript of the Waldo Family genealogy. The papers of Charles Samuel Waldo (1871- ), also a genealogist, contain notebooks with genealogical notes concerning the Waldo Family.

There are also papers of other Waldo Family members, including a deed of Cornelius Waldo (1684-1753), 1740; a letter from Sarah Waldo, 1850; and an undated account book by an unknown author, titled "Book Debts Collected by Major McClellan."
