Abstract:

Minor personal papers; correspondence relating to American history, Ticonderoga, Clements Library at Ann Arbor, Mich., and the Concord Battle; hand and typewritten mss., used for French's lectures, and research materials chiefly concerning the American Revolution, including primary sources dating to actual events of the Colonial period and the Allen-Palmer letters, correspondence (1770-1780) of two men in Boston, Mass., detailing daily events in that city; mss. and galley proofs of published and unpublished books of French, Roland Wells Robbins, and Loren B. MacDonald; and collected secondary materials including books, periodicals, newspapers, clippings, maps, pamphlets, photos, and illustrations. Includes correspondence, undertaken by French on behalf of the Social Circle in Concord (a group of men whose ancestors fought in the Revolution) with William Henry Hunt, relating to Hunt's family life, daily events in Concord, and world travels.
