Includes personal letters of James Bandinel (1783-1849), clerk in the British Foreign Office, partially relating to his work; some papers concerning the consular work of James Julius Frederick Bandinel (b. 1845) at Newchang, China, 1887-1904; and diary (1794) of Rev. Thomas Le Mesurier's trip through Germany, Denmark, and Sweden. Subjects and correspondents include the abolition movement; Glasgow merchant, John Anderson (1718-1778) and his family; the Church of England; William Cuninghame (d. 1768), minister at Sanquhar, Scot.; Samuel Hunter (1769-1839); the Le Mesurier family; William Palmer (1803-1885); and the University of Glasgow during the years 1763-1814.
