Papers relating mainly to Astor's real estate investments at Green Bay and Prairie du Chien: account books, ledgers, journals, plat books, letter books, and other documents, such as indentures and contracts. A large portion of the collection consists of letters from Astor's Wisconsin agents, including James D. Doty, Henry S. Baird, James S. Baker, and Nathan Goodell. Similar scattered materials relate to Canadian lands and Astoria; business papers for the Pacific Fur Company, the Montreal-Michilimackinac Company, and Astor's China trade are also included.
