摘要:
Theses records relate to the ecclesiastical functions, political activities, and finances of the Mormon Church when it was headquartered in Ohio, Missouri, Illinois, and Utah. The bulk of the material is from the "Illinois Era" (1839-1846) period of the Mormon Church. Included are itmes dealing with the steamship, "Maid of Iowa," the Nauvoo Temple, and other structures in Nauvoo, Illinois. Also included are records of the Nauvoo Legion (later also called the Utah Militia), the Mormon Battalion, and the personal correspondence of Whitney, his wife, Elizabeth Ann; his sons; Orson K., Joshua K., Horace K., Don Carlos, and Newel Melchezidek; his daughters; Anna Maria and Mary Jane Whitney Groo, as well as her husband, Isaac Groo. Among the most important items in the collection are the only extant manuscript copies of more than twenty revelations of Joseph Smith, all but two of which have been published in the Doctrine and Covenants.
