Abstract:
The papers of Julia Finney Monroe are modest in volume and varied in terms of composition. The content largely focuses on very specific aspects of her life, such as her charity work, most notably with Oberlin Charities Association, and her travels to Europe and the Middle East. There are few files relating to her personal or family life with the exception of legal records which include the wills of her father, Charles Grandison Finney (1792-1875) and her husband, James Monroe (1821-1898). Numerous printed items, mainly relating to charity organizations are included.
