Other topics include service during the War with Mexico; courtship between Bouldin and Harriet Simpson; life at Normal College (now Duke University) in 1855; and service with the 6th North Carolina Regiment at the Battle of First Manassas. Also includes some papers of other members of the Simpson family; printed circulars and correspondence from B.F. Johnson & Co., publishers of Richmond, Va.; and printed items relating to the Female Normal College in High Point, N.C., and a meeting of the Country Line Primitive Baptist Association in Arbor, N.C.
