RT Book, Whole DB /z-wcorg/ DS http://worldcat.org ID 207160763 LA English A1 Nichols, Charles L., YR 1851 AB This collection spans the period 1851 to 1929 and mainly represents Dr. Nichols' preparation of his various Worcester bibliographies and studies of Isaiah Thomas (1749-1831). Much of it was never published. One octavo volume contains entries by Nichols' sister, Anna Lewis Nichols ( -1934), in the Bryant Birthday Book of Verses (1882) concerning family records and anniversaries from 1882 to 1896. The other octavo volumes concern Worcester Imprints. One folio folder contains notes and photostats illustrating Dr. Nichols' paper on "Various Forms of the Columbus Codex," while the other volume, "Worcester Imprints, 1775-1894" is his compilation of all works printed in Worcester during that period. The six manuscript boxes consist of family letters, genealogies and materials from Dr. Nichols' early life, correspondence with friends, medical and scholarly institutions, addresses, papers on therapeutics and his efforts on behalf of pure milk for Worcester's children, material on the Baskett Bibles, the destruction of Belgium's Louvain Library during the First World War, and Dr. Nichols' extensive researches for his bibliographical works, and studies of almanacs and printers.
