Chiefly Brown's scrapbooks, containing clippings of articles written by him as a correspondent in the Soviet Union (1926), clippings relating to World War I and U.S. Army in Mexico (1916-1919), and clippings and papers relating to Brown's personal and civic affairs; together with personal and family correspondence (1898-1953), including letters (1916-1918) from his sons serving in the U.S. Army; papers relating to Butler University which Brown served as a director; correspondence and other papers relating to the operations of the Indianapolis News under William Henry Smith, Delavan Smith, and Charles W. Fairbanks; and papers (1896-1898) relating to the estate of William Henry Smith. Correspondents include Louis Ludlow, Meredith Nicholson, John W. Pershing, and Delavan Smith.
