Abstract:

Correspondence, including a series of letters (1899-1915) from Maksim Gorky to Leonid Andreyev; mss. of writings by Vicente Blasco Ibáñez, Maksim Gorky, V.I. Lenin, and Anatoly Lunacharsky; numerous petitions sent to Aleksinskiĭ when he was a Duma delegate, as well as other documents; photos; and Aleksinskiĭ's writings, issues (1908-1960s) of chiefly Russian emigré periodicals, books by various persons, and other printed matter. Papers chiefly concern the years 1907-1917, and include substantial material on the second Russian State Duma (Gosudarstvennai︠a︡ Duma), Kapriĭskai︠a︡ shkola (the Russian Social Democratic School on Capri), Gruppa "Vpered" (the "Vpered" group of Social Democrats), the relationship between Maksim Gorky and Leonid Andreyev, and World War I. Correspondents include Russian social democrats Aleksandr Bogdanov, Vladimir Lenin, Anatoly Lunacharsky, L. Martov, Georgiĭ Plekhanov, Mikhail Pokrovskiĭ, and Leon Trotsky, and such European socialists as Pablo Iglesias Posse, Karl Kautsky, Rosa Luxemburg, and Benito Mussolini.
