Abstract:

Chiefly correspondence from Wright to his first wife, Katherine Belle Boynton Wright, daughter, Beverley Boynton Wright, and mother, Annie Van Vranken Wright, mainly discussing family news but also commenting on his work as art critic and detective novel writer, particularly during the period he served in New York as editor of The Smart Set (1913-1914); together with drafts of poems, short stories, and articles by Wright and his wife, childhood memoir by Wright's daughter, printed material relating both to Wright and his brother, artist Stanton Macdonald-Wright, transcript of Macdonald-Wright's European notebook (n.d.), miscellaneous financial and legal papers, memorabilia, newsclippings, and photos. Persons represented include B.W. Huebsch, H.L. Mencken, George Jean Nathan, and John Adams Thayer.
