Articles, written by Chaplin and others; book reviews of Chaplin's books; correspondence with literary figures such as Stewart Holbrook, Margaret Storm Jameson, John Langdon-Davies, Witter Bynner, Upton Sinclair, John Dos Passos, Carl Sandburg, and others; I.W.W. correspondence relating to the Joe Hill controversy, some letters from Wallace Stegner; editorials and articles, many written while Chaplin was editor of west coast labor related publications, giving insight into his philosophy about labor, union, Socialism, Communism, post-war recovery efforts, labor relations, industrial relations, and other topics; speeches; items relating to I.W.W., including telegrams concerning activity in Chelan County, Wash., poems written by others who served time with Chaplin in Leavenworth; and handwritten ms. account by Chaplin's father, E.L. Chaplin of his eye witness account of the Pullman railroad strike in Chicago, 1895; original artwork (over 50 items), chiefly pen and ink cartoons; published and unpublished typescript and ms. poems and songs written by Chaplin, and to a lesser extent, his literary and union colleagues; drafts and portions of various publications including incomplete typescript drafts of his autobiography Wobbly; and other materials.
