The correspondence includes family correspondence and correspondence with noted civil rights promoters and politicians such as Shirley Graham Du Bois, Benjamin Mays, Thurgood Marshall, and Martin Luther King, Jr., and from groups in which Richardson played a role, including the Urban League, the NAACP, the United Negro College Fund, and the Church Federation of Indianapolis. Numerous speeches and public statements are also included.
