Abstract:

Manuscript, in multiple hands, of a collection of letters and documents from Tyrwhitt's papers. Many letters relate to his service to the Prince of Wales, later George IV, including his correspondence with Nathaniel Wraxall concerning his request for a baronetcy, letters between "the Nabob of Arcot and the Carnatic," Omdat ul-Omrah, and the Prince of Wales, and letters regarding the unrolling of the Herculaneum Rolls; other documents include a letter from Lieutenant General Charles Stewart informing Tyrwhitt that "a W. Robinson (calling himself Colonel Rivers)...has been arrested at Berlin at your Request"; a letter from William Balcombe regarding Napoleon's billeting and provisions at St. Helena; and numerous letters concerning personal matters.
