Abstract:

Correspondence, legal papers, accounts, and pocket diaries related to Harison's affairs and work as an attorney (ca. 1815-ca. 1872). Papers concern the litigation of his clients, his land interests, his varied financial interests, and other matters. Pocket diaries for 1858 and 1859 contain sporadic entries recording weather observations and letters written.

Included are many letters from Charles Fenton Mercer and Sherman Converse pertaining to the colonization of lands in Texas during the 1940s. Other frequent correspondents include Thomas William Ludlow, George Atkinson of London, John M. Catlin, members of the Auchmuty family, Daniel Crommelin Verplanck, William H. Keating, Joseph Kingsbury, and Pierre Joseph De Cater; also numerous letters addressed to Thomas Ludlow Ogden.
