Abstract:

Letters, 1841-1894, of Judge Victor Clay Barringer chiefly to his brothers Rufus Barringer and Daniel Moreau Barringer. The majority concern his service on the International Court of Appeals, Alexandria Egypt, 1874-94. Especially interesting are earlier letters describing a speech by Daniel Webster and a trial of rioters in Concord, N.C. during Reconstruction. The collection also contains a volume of his speeches and some lecture notes.

Letters, 1870-1901, of Maria Amanda Massey Barringer chiefly to members of the family, describing life in Egypt where her husband was on the International Court of Appeals.

Diary, 1861-1864 of Maria Massey Barringer describes life during the Civil War.
