Summary:
The collection contains several letters concerning an article for [Putnam's Monthly Magazine?] about the Sedgwick family home in the Berkshires with accompanying engraving.

Letters to family, friends, fellow authors and acquaintances discuss her work and that of other authors particularly James Parton's biography of Aaron Burr, and an article by de Sismondi which she translated.

She searches for positions for two European exiles, offers encouragement to people in adversity, deems the reading material donated to Union soldiers as too philosophical, relates an anecdote about her father during Shay's rebellion, and declares her preference for Irish Protestant maids over Irish Catholics. There are also several social notes and one discussing finances.
