Abstract:

The papers contain World War II correspondence and artwork of Freeman while serving on board the U.S.S. West Point during World War II.

In addition there are childhood drawings, illustrations for Cavalier magazine, sketches of students at "Corner" restaurants in Charlottesville, woodblocks and some prints from them including local buildings and "Beta" the University of Virginia mascot, and printed research material. There are also sketches of Gleb Botkin, W. Horsley Gantt, Nan Humphreys Dyer and Clover Walters.

Correspondents include Jack Dalton and Grand Duke Aleksandr Mikhaĭlovich.

The collection also contains a genealogy chart, diplomas, exhibition brochures, a scrapbook of clippings of British royalty.
