Includes material pertaining to his work as professor and director of clinical psychiatry at a number of universities and institutions including Saint Elizabeths Hospital, Washington, D.C. (1923-1933); as cofounder of the Washington-Baltimore Psychoanalytic Society (1930); as coordinator of the Committee for Research in Dementia Praecox (1935-1950); and as psychiatric consultant during the Nuremberg War Crime Trials (1945-1946). Includes drafts of Lewis's Research in Dementia Precox: Past Attainments, Present Trends and Future Possibilities (1936) and other writings on schizophrenia and a file containing medical and psychiatric reports for Nazi leader Rudolf Hess. Correspondents include A. A. Brill, Karl A. Menninger, Adolf Meyer, Clarence P. Oberndorf, and Sandor Rado.
