Abstract:

George Marshall and Dwight Eisenhower formed arguably the most important military partnership of World War II, but the nature of their relationship has eluded historians for years. In Partners in Command, Mark Perry explores how the two men brilliantly combined strengths and offset each other's weaknesses, and shared a commitment to the notion that only a multilateral alliance could defeat the Axis powers. Their instincts proved correct from the battles in North Africa and Italy to the D-Day Invasion, liberation of Europe, and creation of the postwar establishment. ON THE U.S. ARMY CHIEF OF STAFF'S PROFESSIONAL READING LIST 2012.
