Abstract:

"This is a play of enjoyment. It is a play of charm, of wit, of romance. It is also a play of drama -- the drama that derives from the truthful clash of character just as much as it does from the relation of events. The setting is the house of a rich man who enjoys a pride in his possessions but as he is a man of taste and knowledge, he lives in gracious surroundings, where his wealth has been used to create beauty, and unobstructive beauty. Alas, the rich man, the Earl of Flint, has not been fortunate in his matrimonial alliances. Three times he has been married, but now in his middle age, he is living again as a bachelor. During the play he finds the true love that has been denied him for so long".
