Abstract:

Collection consists of 3 ledgers (in one box) and 1 box of individual records of the 1st Pennsylvania Cavalry Regiment. One ledger contains special orders and circulars of the regiment (1863-64); the second ledger includes handwritten reports of Col. John P. Taylor (1863-64), lists of battles and skirmishes in which the unit fought (1862-64), a synopis of operations (1863-64), field and staff lists of commissioned officers and a muster roll of soldiers in the regiment. The third ledger contains consolidated morning reports of the regiment from Nov. 25, 1862 to Aug. 20, 1864. The content of the box consists of individual handwritten special orders, circulars, official correspondence, enlistment papers, claims forms, leave and furlough records plus other official correspondence on the 1st Cavalry Regiment (1863-64) and correspondence to and from Col. John P. Taylor (1867-69) regarding members of the regiment.
