"The Pentago Papers trial was a major event in the history of the United States and its importance has not diminished with the passage of time. It was a trial not only of Daniel Ellsberg and Anthony Russo, but of the entire United States involvement in Vietnam. It was also a trial of the secrecy system developend in the Executive branch by a series of presidents, cabinet members, and presidential assistants, and used not only against the Congress, but against the American people."
