I ran across this site and it took me back to the days that my Mom and Dad would load all of us kids up and we would go to visit Uncle Oaksie and we would sit around his rocking chair and he would take out his old pipe and load it up with red ox chewing Tabaco, that’s right chewing Tabaco, and he would start off by telling us how great God is and he would play the fiddle a while, and tell stories about the old days and how things have changed over the years. This was in the 1950’s, a long time ago but I can remember the smell of the smoke from his pipe and the sound of the old fiddle as he played. But most of all I remember the way that he had to have a hug when you said good bye and he would thank even the smallest one of us for coming to see him. Gentile souls like that are so hard to find, and from the little white haired boy then to the old bald man of today I look at the person that I have become and I thank people like Uncle Oaksie that I grew up around that help make me a kinder person and for that I say thank you.
