Abstract:

Since it was critical for the 2001 Peruvian elections to rebuild confidence in the political process, NDI/Carter Center deployed international observers to monitor the voting process in eight electoral districts on April 8, 2001. The delegation noted the large voter turnout, well coordinated logistical support among the various institutions involved and no exceptional problems in the voting process. NDI and The Carter Center will continue to monitor developments through the installation of the new government.
