Recorded for Columbia Records (vinyl lp) M2 32966. Date of release is not known to me. There are two lps, never released on cd. I attended one of the Carnegie Hall performances on June 22, 1962. From the notes of the recording: "From 1962 until his death, Casals conducted "El Pessebre" 74 times in such cities as San Francisco, New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, New Orleans, Omaha, Washington, D.C. and in Florida, Puerto Rico, South America and Italy, Switzerland, France, England, Germany, Hungary, Greece, and - in it's most significant hearing - at the United Nations in New York. .... The purpose of "El Pessebre" is to make its hearers "feel, knowing that feeling can open the door to thought. And thought and feeling together, will enable Peace to illuminate the pathway of those who are endeavoring to seekout routes to other worlds without yet having learned to live free and happy in this one." This is Pablo Casals message and this was his crusade. And Peace could have no better champion than this great artist, loyal and steadfast in his belief that one day the star will shine again to light men's way to truth. -Alfredo Matilla
